Geography
Vadakkancherry is a village panchayat comprising the villages of Vadakkancherry-1 and Vadakkancherry-2 in Alathur taluk, Alathur block, Palakkad district. Initially, this area was under the rule of the Palakkad Raja. In 1960, the present-day Vadakkancherry panchayat was formed by the merger of Vadakkancherry, Ayakkad and Mangalam panchayats. The boundaries of this panchayat are to the north (Kannambra, Kavassery, Alathur), to the east (Vandazhi, Kizhakkancheri, Alathur, Melarkode), to the south (Kizhakkancheri, Kannambra), and to the west (Kannambra).
